Nepal’s culture is as tall as its mountains. On a heritage tour, you walk through it, sleep inside it, and eat at its table.

Our anchor trip is the 11 day Tamang Heritage Trek. On the trail, you wind through stone villages like Gatlang, Thuman, and Briddim, close to the Tibetan border. Here, Tamang families host you in homestays and small traditional lodges. After a climb to the Nagthali viewpoint, you can soak in the hot springs at Tatopani. Because the trail stays at village altitudes, it rates 2 on the Spade Trek Difficulty Scale.

Plus, the Langtang Valley Trek adds bigger mountain scenery with the same Tamang culture. And for city heritage, we run private day tours of the Kathmandu Valley’s UNESCO sites on request.

The best months are March to May and October to November. Still, these lower trails stay open nearly all year. Ask us to mix trails, temples, and hot springs into one journey.

FAQs

What makes the Tamang Heritage Trail special?

In short, it is a culture first trek. Instead of chasing altitude, you move village to village through Gatlang, Thuman, and Briddim, staying with Tamang families. Here, the mountain views come as a bonus, not the goal.

Do I need trekking experience?

No. The route rates 2 on the Spade Trek Difficulty Scale, with short days and modest heights. If you can hike four hours a day, you can do this trip.

Can I combine it with the Langtang Valley?

Yes, the two link naturally into one longer journey. Read our Tamang Heritage vs Langtang Valley comparison to see which suits you, or ask us to join them.
