In the Langtang Valley, the trail follows a glacial river up to the yak pastures of Kyanjin Gompa. Then hikers climb Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m) or Tserko Ri (4,984 m) for huge views. On the Gosaikunda route, you reach a chain of holy alpine lakes at 4,380 m. Both Helambu and the Tamang Heritage Trail stay lower and feel wonderfully calm.
This is also Tamang country, and its culture shapes every village you pass. Since the 2015 earthquake, these communities have rebuilt their homes and lodges. Every booking here puts money straight back into that recovery.
