Trekking is what Nepal does best, and it is what we do best too. Spade Himalaya runs 25 guided treks across six regions: Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Manaslu, Makalu, and Dolpo. Trips last 4 to 24 days, with prices from US$ 390.

Every trek is graded 1 to 5 on the Spade Trek Difficulty Scale. So a first timer can find a gentle ridge walk, and a veteran can chase a 5,000 m pass. For classic scenery, pick Everest Base Camp or the Annapurna Circuit. For quiet trails, look at Manaslu, Makalu, or Upper Dolpo. And for a first taste of the Himalaya, Poon Hill takes just four days.

Most routes run teahouse to teahouse, so you carry only a daypack. The main seasons are March to May and October to November. However, several lower treks work all year.

Every departure includes a licensed local guide, fair porter care, and honest pricing. Also, we arrange every permit before you land. New to all this? Start with our guides to trekking costspermitspacking, and the best seasons.

FAQs

How much does trekking in Nepal cost?

Our guided treks run from US$ 390 for the four day Poon Hill Trek to US$ 1,790 for the Everest Three Passes Trek. The price includes guides, permits, lodging, and meals on the trail. See our full trekking cost guide for a breakdown.

Do I need a guide to trek in Nepal?

On most routes, yes. Nepal requires trekkers to hire a licensed guide on the main trekking trails, and restricted areas add stricter rules. Every Spade Himalaya trek already includes a licensed local guide, so you are covered.

Which trek should I do first?

For most first timers we suggest Poon Hill, Mardi Himal, or the Langtang Valley. All three offer big views without extreme altitude. Then Everest Base Camp makes a great second trip.

When is the best trekking season?

March to May and October to November bring the most stable weather across Nepal. In winter, lower treks like Poon Hill still shine. Read our best time to trek guide for month by month advice.
