Notice: Spade Himalaya is a Nepali owned trekking and tour company. Nepal requires a licensed guide for most treks in its national parks and conservation areas, and we arrange the guide and all permits for you (Nepal Tourism Board, 2026).

Quick answer: Spade Himalaya is a locally owned trekking and tour company based in Lalitpur, Nepal. We run guided treks across the Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, Langtang, Makalu, and Dolpo regions. We also offer cultural tours, sightseeing, and adventure trips. Every trip uses licensed local guides, small groups, and clear, upfront pricing.

Spade Himalaya helps travelers trek and tour the Nepal Himalaya in a safe, fair, and honest way. We are based in Nepal, we work with licensed local guides, and we plan each trip around your fitness and your time. So you get real mountain experience, planned by people who know these trails first-hand.

Who is Spade Himalaya?

Spade Himalaya is a trekking and tour company from Nepal. We are locally owned, and we are based in Lalitpur, in the Kathmandu Valley. So we live and work where the mountains begin.

Our focus is simple. First, we keep you safe. Then, we make the trip meaningful, for you and for the hill communities you walk through. We do not oversell a route. Instead, we tell you what a trek really involves, then we build it around your goals.

Also, we work only with government-licensed guides. Many of them grew up in the regions we visit. So you get local knowledge, honest advice, and a steady pace, not a rushed script.

Spade Himalaya was co-founded by Pawan Bhattarai, who runs the company as CEO, and our treks are led by government-licensed guides like our senior guide Yubaraj Katel. You can meet the whole team on our team page.

Where is Spade Himalaya based?

Our base is in Lalitpur, Nepal. This city sits inside the Kathmandu Valley, right next to Kathmandu. So we stay close to the airport, the permit offices, and the main trailheads.

You can reach us by phone, WhatsApp, or email, and we reply fast. All of our contact details are at the bottom of this page.

What treks and trips does Spade Himalaya offer?

We run trips in six main trekking regions of Nepal. Each region has its own signature routes. Here is where we trek.

Beyond trekking, we also plan cultural tours and short adventures. For example, we arrange sightseeing in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Pokhara. We can also add a mountain flight, a helicopter tour, rafting, paragliding, or a jungle safari. So a Spade Himalaya trip can mix high trails with culture and rest days.

New to a region? Then start with our free planning guides, like the Everest region guide, the Annapurna region guide, and the Langtang region guide.

Are Spade Himalaya’s guides licensed?

Yes. Since 2023, Nepal has required a licensed guide for most treks in its national parks and conservation areas (Nepal Tourism Board, 2026). So every Spade Himalaya trek includes a government-licensed guide.

Our guides are trained in first aid and altitude awareness. On high routes, they also carry a first-aid kit and a pulse oximeter. Because solo trekking is not allowed in most areas, we sort the guide and every permit for you. So you only need your passport, your photos, and your insurance.

How does Spade Himalaya keep trekkers safe?

Safety comes first on every trip. So we build rest days and slow climbs into each itinerary. This gives your body time to adjust to the altitude.

Your guide also checks your health each day and watches the weather. If anyone feels unwell, we change the plan at once. For high treks, we carry a first-aid kit and a pulse oximeter. We also ask every trekker to bring travel insurance that covers helicopter rescue. In short, we plan for the mountain, not against it.

Is Spade Himalaya a responsible company?

We try to leave the trail better than we found it. So we stay in local, family-run lodges where we can. This keeps your money in the village.

We also pay our guides and porters fair wages, and we respect safe porter weight limits. On the trail, we cut plastic waste and carry out what we carry in. So trekking with us helps the hill communities, not just passes through them.
