Short does not mean small. In under a week, Nepal can hand you sunrise over 8,000 m giants. Spade Himalaya offers four short treks of 4 to 7 days, priced from US$ 390.

First, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: four days to a famous sunrise ridge at 3,210 m. Next, two five day options: Helambu, which starts near Kathmandu, and Short Mardi Himal, a fast ridge walk above Pokhara. Finally, the seven day Pikey Peak Trek serves what many call the best Everest view on a short trek.

None of these routes need a domestic flight. So they suit tight schedules and nervous flyers alike. All four rate 1 to 2 on the Spade Trek Difficulty Scale.

When should you come? March to May and October to November are ideal, yet these lower routes work most of the year. Because the days are few, a short trek also makes a great add on to a longer Nepal tour. See our guide to the best short treks near Kathmandu for a full comparison.

FAQs

Which short trek is the easiest?

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. It takes four days on well maintained stone trails, tops out at 3,210 m, and has teahouses the whole way. Most people with basic fitness complete it comfortably.

Can I see Everest on a short trek?

Yes. The seven day Pikey Peak Trek is famous for its Everest panorama, without the flight to Lukla. On a clear morning, you see Everest, Makalu, and a wall of peaks from the summit.

How fit do I need to be?

If you can walk uphill for four to five hours a day, you are ready. These treks rate 1 to 2 on our difficulty scale. Also, our guides set an easy pace, so you never feel rushed.
